For ten wonderful days I relaxed.

Ready to get going ... eighteen hours and five stops later they weren't so eager to get back in ...

Crossing the boarder into NSW. No photo of the Qld crossing as it was about 1am at the time!

Our favourite part of the drive, just north of Sydney ... it's hard to capture the scenery from the car.

The camera didn't come out much so I have no food shots, no water, no sand,

no dogs swimming or running around, no Nutmeg hiding in the shade ...

... just a couple of pictures of the view from my folks' back verandah, where we spent a lot of time.

Mount Warning in the distance as we started heading home.

*Thank you to all of you for your support and wishes over the past few months, both here and behind the scenes. A four week break from work has gone a long way to helping me reset and refresh ... my words are returning slowly and I hope to get them 'down on paper' soon and regularly this year. In the meantime, please bear with me while I lean on photos for a little longer.

    1. Thanks! It's not actually easy to capture them in the back when the car and Nutmeg are both moving. They watched us pack the night before and there was no way known we were going to be allowed to leave them behind, they jumped in about three times before we were actually ready to go :)

  2. A four week break! That must have been phenomenal for you. I bet you loved getting away from the city.

And you know I love these tree shots - so different! So exotic! So pretty bird - what kind of bird is that?

    1. I cannot even begin to explain what a four week break from work did for me ... and how it has affected the way I see things now that I'm back. Even though only a very short part of it was spent away, just sticking around my little corner of suburbia was much nicer than lugging into the city every day.

I have to be honest, the only reason I even pulled out the phone to take those three shots was because I knew you'd like them ... I was relaxed almost to the point of floppy and blogging was far from my mind. That particular bird is a rainbow lorikeet, one of the 50+ species that dad has spotted from their verandah!

    1. Thanks Leaf ... I'm determined this year will be a better one, as much as is in my control at least. Big changes planned, we'll see how they pan out :)

  4. Oh, I do miss such visions of nature! And puppies. I was working on a celebrity pets gallery at work this week. MISS PUPPY CUDDLES.

    1. It is a gorgeously natural area, perfect for relaxation. Goodness, you're getting a lot of variety in this new job! Sounds great :) Our two darlings are at that weird but nice in between stage at the moment where they're still bonkers like puppies but cuddle in like old dogs ... would it be weird to stalk a dog park to make friends with dog people ? ;)
