Oh Melbourne,

how can I possibly stay mad with you when you send a day like this to break the cold and the wet ...

  1. I'll refrain from commenting on the nicely-structured trees. How cold does it get down to in Melbourne?

    1. Very restrained of you, they're quite nice trees (even if they aren't natives!). It's been getting down to around 5C (not F) overnight lately which, given that Winter hasn't really even hit yet, has me a bit worried. It's the wind and rain that get to me more than the cold though ... or rather it's the combination of cold, wind and rain that gets to me - I realise it's not too bad compared to a lot of places but I spent my first 13 years in a much warmer climate and have just never really acclimatised to Melbourne's Winters.

    2. Here's a great example of the inconsistencies of Melbourne weather for you - that photo was taken on Wednesday when it was clear and sunny with a top of 21 (but very windy), two days later it has been raining all day, is expected to keep raining for hours yet (45mm in one day when the May average is 54.7), and the papers are reporting a top of about 10 making it the 'coldest day since July 2008 and the coldest May in 12 years'!!! (mumble grumble muble, what was I saying about liking Melbourne?)

Yeah, so you'll never ask me a question again will you ... ask Hannah, I have quite the ability to go on and on ... :)
