Sailing Smoother Waters

(found here via here)

I finally did it ... on Monday night I adjusted my sails. I am still aiming for the same destination, just taking a slightly different route to get there. It may even turn out to be a slightly longer route but I'm hoping it will mean I'm sailing smoother waters in the meantime. For the moment I'm sailing the rough waters that come as you slowly change your vessels direct, the winds beating at your side and the sails flapping wildly, but once the direction change is complete I will relax again and enjoy the ride.

  1. Well, this is fittingly vague:) Metaphors, sailing, wind, routes... job? Although you say Monday night, so... life? Job life life job?

    1. I prefer to think of it as poetically vague :) I promise more detail will follow when things are more definite. For the moment I feel like I might jinx it if I get too far ahead of myself!

    1. Thanks Ali. I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic at the moment, I don't want to get too excited in case it doesn't quite go as planned ...

    1. If it wasn't for your recipe those poor pears would probably have sat around for another week and then ended up in the compost so thank you!

    1. Oh, what a fabulous idea! I love that I'm not the only one planning holidays so far in advance too :) That would be absolutely awesome on a sail!

  6. We plan on opening up parts of the trip to those that want to "book the guest room" - our sailboat will have an extra room (with private shower etc.) so .... if ever feel free to book your part! (see selfish self-promotion!)

As for planning ahead – for this kind of trip - you have to. I'm about to start a second "arm" to the blog that deals with the prep involved in this kind of trip. It's not easy ... ummm for one ... you have to learn how to sail! There are a huge number of courses you have to take, certificates to acquire etc. that's just for the humans – and the sailing ... let alone the paper work for taking the Mr. Montecristo along, finances, visas, time off work and so much more. But it will SO be worth it!
